Welcome to the scales!

Scales are the building blocks of classical music.  Their importance and fixed patterns make them perfect for finger flexibility and intonation develpment.

Once you understand and know a scale, it makes it much easier to learn all pieces that use that scale, which is why they are so incredibly important, no matter what instrument you learn.  The Scales I have chosen for you come with a bonus.  Charles de Beriot wrote beautiful accompaniments for the 18 most commonly used scales.  Each with their own character and often a hidden educational element.

It makes learning scales a lot more fun, and on top of that playing with a second instrument automatically helps developing musicianship and if you pay attention will make playing in tune a lot  faster and more instinctive.

I recommend you work your way through each playlist as presented.  First understand the scale, then play the scale slowly (we start at ♩ = 40) and once you know it play the same scale with the pre recorded accompaniment.  Bit by bit it will become more natural and you can work your way through all the subsequent videos, each offering you additional challenges.
